Well that's an understatement! Here it is February 2015, and wow have things changed. My wife and I lost our son in 2013. He was a great kid and we miss him a lot. He would ride with me occasionally, he especially enjoyed riding with me during the balloon festival in Albuquerque, NM. We had a ritual every year of going to Starbucks to start to watch the launch then we would race to the field and watch the second waive of balloons inflate and take off. We would then jump back on the bike and chase the balloons for a while then stop and have breakfast. It was always a great day, I miss them a lot.
After Nathan passed away, my wife and I have moved to Chandler, AZ. We bought a condo back in October of 2013 and have been in Chandler ever since. We plan to retire back in NM someday and still have a place there. Too many grand kids, waiting on our return.
Lately my riding has been limited to back and forth to work, My wife has been pretty tight on me last year. We are starting to get involved in the community and that is helping us get going again. I actually purchased a new motorcycle, this year and gave up the dual sport. My wife hated to ride. I purchased a 2014 .........................., but not announcing the bike just yet. I have some friends I'm trying to get to meet me half way. They have not seen it yet but have been guessing ;-D.
There is some great riding in AZ and we have been taking a few short rides, nothing more than 100 miles. We found a couple of great stops San Tan Flat and Greasewood Flat. Greasewood is a little older looking (more of a biker dive) but it will be closing in March which is a shame. Nice places that have outdoor seating and live music at night. A really nice atmosphere, they have fire pit at the picnic tables, they light them as it gets dark and cools off. They also have roasting sticks for anyone that wants to do smores at their pit. You just have to maintain it.
I'm currently doing a lot of hiking getting ready for a 5 day backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon and we are heading to Mexico with the travel trailer for a week soon.
Well that's it for now, take care and ride safe.
